Indonesians fancied as Asian Karting Open unwraps
MANILA, Philippines - The Asian Karting Open Championship holds its third leg starting today with Indonesia and Singapore out to foil the local karters’ title bid at the Carmona Racetrack in Cavite.
Gabriel Arcaradine, Anderson Martono and former junior champions Yasuo Senna Iriawan and Senna Sulaiman Noor banner the Indonesian squad in the premier Formula 125 Open Senior class of the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association of the Phils. and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission.
Arcaradine is the current frontrunner in the Formula 125 Open Senior class with 46 points while Martono, who ruled the Asian Karting Clark leg last year, is fifth overall with 32 points.
Iriawan, who topped the pre-final heat in the last leg, is sixth overall with 30 points while Noor follows closely with 25 points.
Indonesia also leads the Formula 125 Open Junior division behind Darma Mangkuluhur with 72 points and expects high hopes on young aces Keanon Santoso, Darryl Wenas and Barichello Noor who are currently second, third and fourth , respectively, in the Mini-ROK division of the event sponsored by Coca-Cola, Yokohama (official tires), Sparco, Vivere (official home of Asian karters), Motorstar and Aeromed.
Singapore brought in nine of its best karters led by Mohd Nasri Naufal Bin Nasir who’s currently third overall in the Formula 125 Open Senior class with 36 points and will be backed up by Randall Ng Yen Hui, Austin Spencer Hicks, Julien Fong, Sean Hudspeth and Leon Khoo Beng Koon.
