DLSU, Xavier, SBC triumph in Martin Cup

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle defeated Angeles University Foundation Great Danes, 69-62, while Xavier School routed AUF Junior Danes, 80-56, in the 10th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup basketball tournament at the Trinity University of Asia gymnasium in Quezon City Tuesday.

The Green Archers leaned on rookies Jason Perkins, Mustapha Yankie Haruna and Gabriel Reyes to hold off the Great Danes and post their second win in three games in Group B. Perkins scored 21 points, Haruna delivered 15 markers and Reyes had 12 points for the Green Archers.

Kyles Lao, meanwhile, fired 13 points for the Stallions, who nailed their second straight victory in the junior division.

San Beda drew 15 points from Marc Decapia as it walloped San Benildo, 77-65.

In other games, University of Santo Tomas, with Ivan Reyes scoring 18 points, beat EAC-ICA, 80-62, while Ateneo got 15 points from Vince Tolentino to defeat University of Perpetual Help, 54-50.

FEU-Fern defeated University of the East, 62-54, in the other junior contest.
