Sta. Lucia golf tour going to Bangkok
MANILA, Philippines - The Sta. Lucia Golf Tour moves to a different setting as it goes international for just the second time in its long history this week.
The unique competition among members of clubs flying the Sta. Lucia banner will be playing two of the most popular golf courses in Bangkok, Thailand in a 36-hole tourney serving as the third leg of the course-hopping series.
As of the last count, 75 players are confirmed to play in the tournament which will be hosted by the Lam Lukka Golf and Country Club course on the first day on Friday and the Vintage Golf and Country Club on Saturday for the second and final round.
Seeing action are member teams from seven clubs operated by real estate giant Sta. Lucia Realty: Eagle Ridge and Orchard in Cavite, Alta Vista of Cebu, Summit Point of Batangas, Beverly Place of Pampanga, Royale Tagaytay and Rancho Palos Verdes of Davao.
They will all be competing for the four division titles covering different handicap levels in team and individual formats.
“It’s been a while since we first held an international leg and it’s in keeping with our desire make every leg fun and exciting for all those joining,” said Vicente Santos, executive vice president of Sta. Lucia Realty. The first and only time the Tour had an international leg was in 2007 also in Bangkok.
The experience of playing two golf courses with varying character and a four-day, three-night stay at the Grand Center Point in Central Bangkok complete the fun for the Tour players not to mention the good times they will all share with their fairway buddies.
Santos also said that a team of golf club managers and golf directors from their respective home clubs are joining the trip to ensure the successful staging of the event.
The Bangkok leg precedes the final stop at Alta Vista on Oct. 10-13.
