MANILA, Philippines - Centro Escolar University and St. Scholastica’s College shoot for their second straight wins in basketball while defending champion Rizal Technological University kicks off its bid in volleyball as action in the 43rd Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) resumes with a three-day schedule starting this weekend.
St. Scholastica battles Emilio Aguinaldo College in seniors basketball at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow at the RTU gym in Mandaluyong while defending titlist CEU takes on San Beda College Alabang at 1 p.m.
Other seniors matches pit RTU against La Consolacion College Manila at 10 a.m. and Philippine Women’s University battles Miriam College at 2:30 p.m.
St. Stephen’s High School and Poveda tangle in the lone midgets game at 11:30 a.m.
St. Scholastica nipped University of Asia and the Pacific, 64-63, and CEU downed PWU, 81-35, in the league’s opener last Aug. 4.
Last week’s matches, however, were cancelled due to inclement weather.
In today’s matches, host De La Salle Zobel opens its title-retention bid in the midget division against Miriam at 11:30 a.m. and versus St. Paul College Pasig in the junior level at 2:30 p.m.
RTU goes up against CEU at 12 noon tomorrow at the St. Scholastica gym where five other volleyball matches are scheduled.
Defending midget champion Miriam tests St. Jude Catholic School in the 8 a.m. opener while St. Paul and San Beda meet at 9 a.m.
UA&P and St. Scholastica kick off senior hostilities at 10:30 a.m., followed by the RTU-CEU duel, San Beda versus Assumption at 1:30 p.m. and PWU against Miriam at 3 p.m.
The futsal event likewise opens tomorrow at the EAC gym in Manila, with four-time defending junior champion DLSZ squaring off with St. Paul at 8 a.m. Last year’s titlist RTU and CEU collide at 12 noon.
