Immuvit unwraps daunting obstacle challenge run

MANILA, Philippines - Running takes a different, more challenging turn with the staging of the Immuvit Series: Fearless Challenge Trail Run 2012, a trilogy race focused on the meta-fitness and trail distance running with obstacles.

The series kicks off with the “No Surrender” event on Aug. 26 at the La Mesa Nature Reserve. Inspired by the Spartan and Tough Madder races in the US, the country’s first-ever obstacle trail challenge will have races in 5k and 10k, subjecting participants to hurdles featuring fire, mud, and water elements with crawling and scaling.

Registration is ongoing and will end Aug. 23.

Interested participants may register online via www.withoutlimits.com or visit Chris Sports at Mall of Asia, Glorietta 3, SM Manila and SM North Annex branches, and Fitness and Athletics at 9th Ave. corner Bonifacio High Street.

“It’s going to be very different from typical races,” said Immuvit brand ambassador and US-certified sports medicine and athletic training specialist Jim Saret, who conceptualized the races.

“The course is designed to help people get fit by going through the challenges. And our main thrust in the series is to ‘complete, not compete.’ We want to help the participants get all the benefits of exercise during the race, and also have a sense of accomplishment when they finish the race and hurdle all the obstacles,” he added.

To be held under the watch of Without Limits’ Ian Alacar and coach Joseph Pagulayan, the Immuvit Series will be open to runners aged 25 and above, with the inaugural “No Surrender” limited to 500 participants. The second event, a “meta-fit” race dubbed “No Excuses” will be flagged off on Sept. 15 at the Quezon City Memorial Circle and also feature 500 runners. The concluding event billed “No Turning Back” will be staged at Nuvali, Laguna, on Oct. 6, testing 1,000 participants to longer trail distances (8k and 15k).

The Immuvit Series, according to Pascual Consumer Healthcare Corp. brand manager Valerie Tan-Sison, the Immuvit is in line with the company’s commitment to encouraging a healthy lifestyle for Filipinos.

“We have always been an advocate of living an active lifestyle to help reach one’s optimum health and slow down the effects of aging,” she said.
