Legaspi moves up to 3rd in US Kids
MANILA, Philippines - Missy Legaspi strung up two solid rounds of 69 and 72 to gain a share of third in the US Kids Golf World Championships in Pinehurst, North Carolina Friday.
The younger sister of five-time US Kids champion Miya, however, stood six strokes behind 2010 champion Emilie Paltrinerri, who paced the girls’ 10-years-old division with a nine-under 135 aggregate.
Eight-year-old Jed Dy, the only returning US Kids champion for Team Phl, hardly recovered from his five-stroke penalty due to late tee-off Thursday, posting a two-over card over nine holes for an eight-over total (42-38). He moved from 37th to 21st but remained too far behind (nine strokes) the leader from the US.
Samantha Marie Bruce, meanwhile, completed 24 holes in the second day to stay in 12th place with a five-over 149 total (75-74), six strokes behind three leaders in the girls’ 11-years-old category.
Yuka Saso is in 17th place with a nine-over 153 from rounds of 76-77 while Christopher Popp stood in 29th with a six-over 150 (76-74) in the boys’ 12-years-old.
