Binay inducts Pacquiao as Rotary head tonight
MANILA, Philippines - Rep. Manny Pacquiao will be inducted as president of the Rotary Club of Manila 101 District 3810 tonight with Vice President Jejomar Binay as guest of honor at the grand ballroom of the Sofitel Philippine Plaza.
Pacquiao will take over the post from outgoing president Liza Elorde, wife of international boxing promoter Johnny Elorde.
VP Binay will induct Pacquiao and the other new officers of the Rotarians together with Gov. Ismael Mercado.
Meanwhile, live boxing matches at 3 p.m. will spice up the event, featuring nine bouts afterwhich the induction ceremonies follow at 6 p.m.
Former featherweight champion Vinvin Rufino of Elorde stable will take on Rene Bestudio from Mandaluyong City in the main event for the Luzon Professional Boxing Association featherweight championship.
In the supporting bouts, Giovanni Escaner of Sultan Kudarat goes up against Samuel Apuya of Bangued, Abra while Glen Suminguit from Zamboanga City faces Edwin Tumbaga of Baguio in 10 round bouts.
Two eight-rounders, one six-rounder and three four-rounders complete the card dubbed as “Boxing Kontra Droga.”
