MANILA, Philippines - Jay Bayron fired a four-under 68 to trail Malaysian Nicholas Fung by three in the second round of the Maybank ADT Challenge of the Asian Development Tour at the Imperial Golf Club late Thursday.
Counting his opening 69, Bayron pooled a 137 to seize solo second as erstwhile pursuer Mars Pucay wavered with a 73 after a 68 to drop to joint 10th at 141.
Fung also shot a 68 to pace the field at 134 with one round left in the sixth leg of the 12-stage ADT with the Philippines hosting the next two legs in Cebu and Orchard next month.
Over in Japan, Miguel Tabuena fumbled with a three-over 73 and barely made the cut in the Shizu Hills Tommy Cup 2012 paced by Yosuke Tsukada and four others in Ibaraki yesterday.
Tabuena, who started the round in joint 24th after a 72, failed to get going with two bogeys and a double-bogey, needing to birdie the par-4 18th for the second straight to assemble a 36-37 card for a 36-hole haul of 145.
He dropped to joint 60th, eight shots behind Tsukada, who shot a 66 for a 137 in a tie with Yudai Maeda (68), Ryoken Kawagishi (67), Yasukazu Idono and Koichi Sugimoto, who both fired 64s.
