Baguio natives head nat'l team to Asian Wushu

Manila, Philippines -  Baguio natives Daniel Parantac, Thonton Sayan and Engelbert Adongan lead a crack Philippine team competing in three major international competitions starting with the Asian Wushu Championships Aug. 19-26 in Vietnam.

The Filipino wushu artists are also set to participate in the sixth Sanda World Cup in October and the fifth World Traditional Wushu Championships in November, according to WFP-Cordillera president Tony Candelaria.

Candelaria said they expect former junior world wushu gold medalist John Keithley Chan and Karissa Jo Chan to be part of the team for the Asian joust.

Six Baguio bets have also been chosen to don the national colors for the fourth World Junior Wushu Championships set Sept. 17-25 in Macau.

The cast includes PNG triple gold medalists Faith Liana Andaya and Vanessa Jo Chan, Zereena Redge Dumseng, Alison Ken Omengan, Joel Casim and Christian Nicolas Lapitan.
