Manila, Philippines - American rider Daniel Blair pounced on defending champion Tiger Lacey’s mishap in the first heat and went on to capture the International Pro category crown in the International Motocross Invitationals at the Mindanao Civic Center in Tubod, Lanao del Norte recently.
Blair, runner-up in the last motocross event in Tubod last December, got past Lacey after the latter suffered a flat tire that took him out of the race in the first heat of the premier class.
Blair also copped this year’s Petronas Lubricants’ Star Rider award.
American standout Sean Kranyak came in second while top Filipino rider Glenn Aguilar edged veteran Dennis Stapleton to snatch third place.
“We are very pleased with this year’s turnout. Definitely the level of competition is getting much higher. But more importantly, we are proud that our very own Glenn Aguilar has won a place in the podium,” said Gov. Khalid Dimaporo.
The event is one of the highlights of the two-week celebration of Araw ng Lanao del Norte.
Meanwhile, top Australian freestyle rider Bradley Burch spiced up the event by performing several death-defying freestyle motocross tricks like can can, nac nac, cliffhanger and backflip.
