- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Te country’s leading karters brace for another tough outing as they compete in the fourth leg of the Philippine National Karting Series at the Carmona Racetrack tomorrow.

Jose Luigi Lachica of One Racing and Dylan Arambulo of Seaoil Kart Wreckers try to keep their hold of the solo lead in their respective classes with the former out to get back at newcomer Jacob Ang, who posted an upset win in the Formula Cadet Novice class at the Boomland Kart Track.

Despite the loss, Lachica remains on top with 228 points, 56 points ahead of Francis Tanlu of AUTSRacing while Sean Draeco Abalajon of Seaoil Kart Wreckers is in third with 145 points.

Ang is in fourth with 100 points after ruling all three races in his debut race while another newcomer Eduardo Coseteng Jr., son of touring car champ Jody Coseteng, has 52 points on a third place finish, also in his debut stint in the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Motorstar and Aeromed.

Arambulo, after his perfect race that earned 100 points at Boomland, kept control of the Formula Cadet Expert division with 219 points, 16 points ahead of erstwhile frontrunner Tai Zulberti of City Kart, who has 203.

Arthur Tuason of Castrol-TRS Kids is in third with 130 points followed by Jacob Chamness and Xedrei Daquigan of XPD with 125 and 114 points, respectively.

Seaoil Kart Wreckers top gun Gabriel Cabrera, currently with 231 points, also hopes to firm up his lead in the Mini-ROK division against Flynn Jackes of Castrol-TRS Kids and Daquigan who have 180 and 170 points, respectively.

Focus will also be on the Formula SL race where Carl Luig of AUTSRacing and Jaz Monzones of Natmo Asia-GP1 Racing are gunning for crucial wins.

Luig, who struggled at Boomland, hopes to bounce back to keep his lead in the Formula SL Novice class.  He has 217 points for a 47-point lead over teammate Brian Thorp, who has 170 points after winning the last race.

Raymond Cudala of Seaoil Kart Wreckers slipped to third with 140 while Carlos Lorenzo of City Kart and Bjonar Eikevik follow with 124 and 119 points, respectively.

Monzones posted a perfect run in the last leg to hike his total to 214 points to show the way for Yvana Carangan and Wayne Darvin, who tallied 191 and 170 points, respectively.
