Casimero-Zarate fight on AKTV-13

MANILA, Philippines - AKTV on IBC 13 will air the Johnriel Casimero-Luis Zarate showdown in another Pinoy Knockout special starting at 9 tonight.

Casimero, 21, took on the veteran Lazarte for the interim IBF light flyweight title in a bout marred by a post-fight riot at the Club Once Unidos in Buenos Aires, Argentina last February.

Before his fight in Argentina, Casimero saw action in the undercard of the Back with a Vengeance that featured Marvin Sonsona in his comeback fight. Casimero won his fight against Roemart Sentillas that was featured on AKTV last Oct. 2011.

Casimero scored a 10th round stoppage over the 40-year old Lazarte, knocking him down twice in the ninth and once in the 10th round.

But a riot took place even before the Filipino champion could be announced as the winner.

Casimero improved to 16-2 with 10 knockouts, becoming the second boxer to knock out Lazarte in his 15-year career.

Pinoy Knockout aims to find the next great Pinoy boxing talent in the Philippines through AKTV on IBC 13, which is also the official free TV broadcaster of the 2012 London Olympics.
