LOS ANGELES – Manny Pacquiao has lost track of his weight with just a week left to his fight against Timothy Bradley.
“Hindi ko na na-check (I haven’t checked),”he said on a cool Sunday afternoon, inside the bedroom of his La Palazzo apartment.
Pacquiao sat on a couch as his kids played around – Jimuel and Michael with their iPads, and little Princess with her Hello Kitty stuff.
The youngest of the Pacquiao children, Queenie, slept.
“Wala naman problema. Kain lang ng kain (No problem. I keep on eating),” said the reigning WBO welterweight champion.
He has an easy way of checking his weight, and just by wrapping his fingers around his wrist, Pacquiao had given himself and the scribes an idea.
“Mga 150 pa ako ngayon (I’m around 150 lb now),” he said.
Earlier downstairs, Pacquiao welcomed close to a hundred guests, including members of the PNP choir, in a bible study session that lasted more than an hour.
The Pacquiao heard Mass at Christ the King church in Hollywood in the morning.
Pacquiao will stake his 147 lb title against Bradley next Saturday in Las Vegas, and he can drop to 147 on any day he chooses.
Pacquiao spars for the last time at the Wild Card Gym Monday and later in the afternoon he leaves for Vegas, with a busload of family and friends.
Bradley has ended his training in Indio, California, and is also expected to be in Vegas by Monday. The official weigh-in is scheduled Friday.
Pacquiao said he’s ready for the fight but also talked about the things to do after the fight.
He said the day after the fight, on Sunday, he will preach in Vegas, and talked about staying a week longer in Los Angeles for the shooting of the Rob Schneider movie where he has a role to play.
Pacquiao, according to his promoter, Bob Arum, is planning a trip to Jerusalem next month, and has instructed his people to shop for a plane to charter.
“He wants a 737 so he could bring all his friends along,” said a member of Team Pacquiao.
