Sneed, David tow Tigers to 2nd win

MANILA, Philippines - Omar Sneed dished out an even bigger game in a follow-up to his near triple-double performance Friday and Gary David sustained his own fiery ways as Powerade made it two in a row with a 110-105 win over Talk n Text in the PBA Governors Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last night.

Sneed and David had monster performances with the former coming through with 32 points and 23 rebounds and the latter rifling in four triples and a total of 28 points as the Tigers roared past the Texters and hit the .500 mark with an even 2-2 win-loss slate.  

Powerade coach Bo Perasol said Sneed lifted their morale, allowing them to get going after back-to-back losses to Petron Blaze and Barako Bull.

“How could you have no confidence when you have a teammate like Omar? He’ll give you a feeling that you can beat any team out there,” said Perasol.

“We’re in the middle of the pack now and it’s not over,” Perasol also said.

Obviously more acquainted now with his teammates, Sneed did a better job after piling up 13 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds against Alaska Milk.

“Tonight called for it. As I’ve said I’m ready to do whatever the team needs,” said the former Memphis U standout.

He also mentioned himself being challenged by what he’s read in the papers insinuating Rashad McCants (the import he replaced) is a better player.

Petron Blaze took to heart its loss to Talk n Text the last time out and sprang back with a 107-94 win over Alaska Milk in the nightcap.

Sneed worked for his huge numbers quietly, helping along the way David and the other Powerade core players to get their own productions as they sent the Texters reeling to a third loss against a lone win.

Struggling early on, David found his touch in the final half, highlighting his game with three straight treys that pushed the Tigers ahead at 60-57.

He had stretched his streak of 20-point showing to 18 games over three conferences as he converted a quick catch-and-shoot play with over two minutes left in the third period.

As expected by coach Chot Reyes, they had a big problem how to stop David minus their tough wing defenders Ryan Reyes and Jason Castro.

Transferee Rey Guevarra also made an impact with another double-digit output (11 points) mostly on exciting drives to the basket. 

As in their last game, the former Letran Knight executed a thunderous jam sending the crowd to a frenzy.

He also had an acrobatic drive sandwiched by two breakaway layups by Sneed that gave Powerade a 102-91 lead with 3:41 left to play.
