Kart Wreckers snatch lead
MANILA, Philippines - Living up to their reputation as the country’s upcoming karting stars, Seaoil Kart Wreckers made huge strides in their bid for top honors in the third leg of the 2012 Philippine Karting Super Series at the Kart Trak Boomland.
Dylan Arambulo and Gabriel Cabrera steered the team to championship wins in their respective classes, showcasing exceptionally aggressive driving skills that the team is known for with the big support of Seaoil, Radiant Systems, Buendia Color Paint Center, Fern-C Racing, Kart Plaza, Point Zero Project and K Designs.
Arambulo, the youngest Kart Wrecker at age 10, upset favored karters from big rival teams by sweeping the time trials, qualifying heat, pre-finals and finals to rule the Formula Cadet Expert class, posting a personal best time of 34.097.
Cabrera likewise duplicated the feat by topping all the events in the Mini-ROK class, clocking 32.618, just a fraction of a second short of the best times posted by older karters in the upper Formula SL class.
Halfway through the series, both Arambulo and Cabrera have regained the No. 1 positions of their respective classes in the series’ overall standings.
Newbie Draeco Abalajon on the other hand, displayed stronger driving skills in this particular leg. Bagging the 4th runner-up trophy, 11 year old Abalajon enjoys a solid third place in the overall standings of the Formula Cadet Novice class despite the entry of strong rivals.
Raymond Cudala marveled the crowd with his perseverance in the Formula SL Expert/ Novice class. The 13 year old survived the leg with an honorable 4th runner-up and remains overall third place in the Formula SL Novice despite suffering a series of mishaps. Unlike his rivals, Cudala is the lone karter without any teammate on the grid. He is also the youngest karter in the Formula SL combined class.
Head coach Edgen Dy-Liacco is currently preparing the boys for the series’ next leg at the Carmona Race Track as well as preparing Cabrera and Cudala for their first international race at the Asian Karting Open Championships Macau round in June.
