MANILA, Philippines - Champion racer Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor put up another scintillating performance abroad, humbling the best of the Euro Nascar drivers from the top European teams to rule the Euro Nascar competition and virtually clinch the hosting rights of the 2013 Euro Nascar Championship series for the country.
Pastor, an Asian and Philippine champion, rallied from the last grid position and zoomed past more than half of the field to land among the top 10 with quarter time trials of 50.6 seconds/per lap in the FIA Euro Nascar Touring Car series.
Then, miscommunication with French team mechanics forced him to take off with a slick tire on a wet track but he displayed superb maneuvering skills to clinch top honors and earn a berth in the World Nascar Touring Car Series Championship.
Pastor, whose stint is sponsored by Bench, CBI and BFM, is coming off a recent stint in the Euro Nascar in Amsterdam, where he saw action as an invitee but wound up impressing the field and organizers with another great run that saw him start from eighth post on the grid out of 30 participants and pass all his rivals before his transmission gave up.
Officials and Euro Nascar’s CEO and organizer Jerome Galpin offered Pastor’s father, Tom, the Philippine hosting of the 2013 Euro Nascar Championship series right after the roundabout in Europe and the US.
