MANILA, Philippines - Chiang Kai Shek College Alumni hung tough in the clutch to pull off a 70-68 win over Xavier School in the 15th Chiang San Ching Memorial Cup of Kiao Ching Athletic Association (KCAA) at the SGS Stadium in Quezon City recently.
With John Kevin Baytan leading the attack, the Blue Dragons rallied then took control of the game in the payoff period with their heady plays to the delight of the school’s alumni, led by its president Albert Lee, Edward Tio, Vencent Ong and Joel Yap.
Baytan scattered seven of his game-high 16 points in the third period before Ralph Lim and Paul Aduana joined the fray to get back at the Golden Stallions in the tournament for under-22-years old.
The Xavier Stallions, who led 38-24 at the half, handed the Blue Dragons their only loss in the elims, 79-58.
The tournament was organized by former Kiao Ching players and officers in partnership with Head Start Academy in memory of Kiao Ching Athletic Association founder, the late Chiang San Ching.
Derrick Go and Aduana finished with 13 points apiece.
Aside from Baytan and Go, other members of the Mythical First Five were Xavier’s Jerald Sze, St. Jude’s Kim Kaizen Lo and Paolo Chan of St. Stephen’s. CKSC’s Calvin Li was named best coach.
