Henares gains 2 silver medals in PNSA shoot
MANILA, Philippines - Three-time shooting champion Daniel “Danby” Henares went home with two silver medals in the recent Philippine National Shooting Association’s National benchrest 50 competition at the Marine Range in Taguig City.
Henares shot 463 out of a possible 500 in the benchrest 50 competition, but failed to surpass the record of Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation director Gene Manalastas who edged him out for the gold with a score of 467 points..
“The competition is getting tougher because the equipment and the shooters are moving to a new level,” said Henares.
“I think I was so lucky to take the silver medal but we would make adjustments to improve on that performance in July,” said Henares, who will be leaving in June for some commitments abroad.
Henares also won the silver medal in the light varmint class when he scored another 463 points, but he was clipped by Noni Alvero (473) for the gold medal trophy.
“Winning in the light varmint class is always the icing on the cake for me because they used rifles that are superior to mine and yet I always come home with a medal. Again I feel so lucky,” said Henares being the only shooter to take two medals in this month.
