MANILA, Philippines - The chase for berths in the national chess team vying in this year’s Olympiad resumes on June 4 with the staging of the semifinal round of the National Open Championships at the PSC Canteen at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
The top six placers in the men’s division will join the 12 grandmasters and the top eight finishers in the women’s category will join the seeded six players from the 2011 Battle of GMs, in the finals.
Registration is ongoing with fee pegged at P300. Non-NCFP members must apply for membership before joining the tournament.

The six-day event is organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines in coordination with the Philippine Sports Commission and sponsored by the City of Tagaytay, headed by Mayor Bambol Tolentino.
