MANILA, Philippines - La Salle fended off Letran, 70-62, in a fight-marred game to clinch the second quarterfinal berth in Group B in the 18th Fr. Martin Summer Cup basketball tournament at the San Beda gym in Mendiola last Tuesday.
Jason Perkins took charge in the last quarter, firing 17 of his 20 points as the Archers bucked the loss of Alfonso Gotladera to notch their fifth win in seven games.
La Salle thus joined Ateneo, unbeaten in five games in Group A, and Letran in the Last 8.
In other games, Mark Montuano and Ferdie Limin scored 12 points each as Informatics routed Trinity to stay in contention for a quarters seat in Group B at 4-2 while Manuel Mosqueda shot 14 points and Exequiel Biteng made 12 points as National University trounced Naga Montessori, 91-60 in junior play.
The Knights finished the elims with a 6-1 slate.
