MANILA, Philippines - Cebu Queen City United FC handed Diliman Victory Liner FC its first loss of the tournament via a 4-1 triumph in second division action of the United Football League at the University of Makati field yesterday.
Ariel Cahilig scored his second goal at the 69th minute while Carlito Abadia knocked in another five minutes later as Cebu Queen City broke away from a close 2-1 contest to stop the Diliman booters.
Cebu Queen City now totes 36 points on 11-3-3 but remains at third spot in the division still dominated by undefeated Pachanga (49 points on 16-1-0 card).
Diliman Victory Liner maintained its standing at No. 2 with 44 points on 14 wins, two draws and a lone setback.
The Cebu booters drew first blood when Junatd Aguilar converted at the sixth minute, then Cahilig hit the target at the 40th for a 2-0 upperhand.
Diliman got to within a goal down at the half as Ariel Zerrudo found the back of the net at the 45th minute.
In the second game, Forza FC leaned on the brace of Isaac Agyie (18’ and 30’) to hack out a 4-2 triumph over Dolphins United.
Forza improved to 17 points on 5-2-9, still in eighth place ahead of Dolphins (12 pts on 2-6-9).
With Agyie opening up scoring and William Pajibo (31’) and Soren Velverde (37’) finding the back of the net, Forza stormed to a 4-0 cushion the Dolphins couldn’t overcome the rest of the way.
