Hamilo Coast, TBB forge tie on triathlon program for pros, ams

MANILA, Philippines - Hamilo Coast has partnered with Team TBB, providing the Philippines ’ first professional triathlon team a fitting venue to hone its skills in as it gears up for major competitions.

Team TBB, a mix of pro and junior triathletes headed by coach Brett Sutton and managed by Alex Bok, has established its base at Pico de Loro at Hamilo Coast, at home with its environment that not only inspires but challenges.

Pico de Loro’s panoramic landscape lends itself as a challenging running terrain, its clear, cobalt sea can become a stimulating training site and its lush topography can serve as an adventurous bike route for intrepid athletes.

“These athletes are training in an environment that looks as beautiful as it does here. It gets them more excited to get out there and do what they have to do,” said David Almendral, Team TBB assistant manager.

Sutton said the idea of forming the TBB is to someday create “a new level of triathletes.”

“What we’ve hoped to do is mix professional athletes with Filipino junior athletes who show potential so that they learn off one another; eventually creating a new level of triathlete,” he said.

“We are very fortunate to have found partners and organizations that share our vision such as Mr. Fred Uytengsu (president and CEO of our title sponsor, Alaska Milk Corporation,) a triathlete himself, and Hamilo Coast ,” he added.

With the intent of putting the spotlight on Hamilo Coast’s inherently dynamic coastal lifestyle, Hamilo Coast said the partnership brings to the fore a shared vision to create a destination that will cater to the active way of life that weekend warriors seek.
