MANILA, Philippines - Danny Gutierrez fired a net 67 to capture the Class A crown while Mentz Deguito bagged the Class B title with a net 67 in the Manila Southwoods’ Seniors Trimester birthday bash tournament at the Masters Course in Carmona, Cavite last Tuesday.
Gutierrez, an 11 handicapper, strung up nines of 37-40 for a gross 77 as he edged Antonio Valera, who shot a gross 76 for a net 69, for top honors in the premier class of the annual event, the first of three tournaments lined up this year honoring the birthday celebrants for each trimester.
Deguito made a gross 81 for a net 67 then nipped Mario Badillo, who also had a net 67 from a gross 79, in the countback for the Group B plum in the one-day tournament organized by Manila Southwoods Seniors Chapter headed by president Jose Cedo and vice president Paco Gonzalez, also the tournament chairman.
Romy Cruz scored a net 67 from a gross 94 then edged Ed Pozon, who also had a gross 94 for a net 67, in the countback to claim the Class C crown in the event sponsored by hole-in-one sponsors Yamaha by Kart Plaza and Wilson Sports and backed by Anako Phils. Vic Lacambacal made a gross 101 for a net 73 to fashion out a three-stroke victory over Dom Menguito, who had a net 76 from a gross 100, in the Super Senior class while Arnold David turned in a net 72 from a gross 86 to nip Mark Maneclang, who shot a gross 87 for a net 73, and top the guest division played under System 36 format.
