Knights turn back Tams

MANILA, Philippines - Letran bucked the absence of injured stars Kevin and Junjun Alas as it fended off Far Eastern U, 56-49, to seize the solo lead in Group B of the 18th Fr. Martin Summer Cup basketball tournament at the Trinity University of Asia gym in QC last Monday.

With Jonathan Belorio and Carlo Lituania on the firing end, the Knights dominated the Tams early but needed to toughen up at endgame to complete the win, their fifth straight.

Belorio showed the way with 14 points while Lituania banged in 12 markers for the Knights. 

UP turned back Lyceum, 47-45, to even its mark at 2-2 in the other seniors match.

Ateneo trounced National U, 80-67, for its third win in row in junior play while La Salle-Zobel outplayed Jesus is Lord Christian Foundation, 78-56, and Far Eastern U-FERN downed Jose Rizal University, 66-44.
