MANILA, Philippines - A record 14 baseball teams are seeing action in the PSC/POC Philippine National Games slated May 26-June 3 at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
Officials of the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association, led by PABA vice president Ely Baradas, said they had decided to stage the event at Rizal diamond instead of holding it in Dumaguete City as suggested by PSC commissioner Jolly Gomez.
Heading the cast are National University, Rizal Technological U, Dumaguete City, University of Sto. Tomas, University of the Philippines, Adamson U, La Salle, Philab (Los Baños), Smokey Mountain, Korean Student team in the Philippines and the national squad.
The Alabang Tigers, according to Pepe Muñoz, will field a selection team from Alabang, while Smokey Mountain and Philab (Los Baños) will be composed of young players selected by coaches of PABA president Hector Navasero, also the Jaycee national director for baseball.
PRISAA baseball national champion University of Mindanao has also been invited through sports development director Joaquin Sarabia Jr. together with second runner-up Angeles University Foundation through PRISAA chairman and AUF founding president Emmanuel Angeles.
