Batch 84 keeps romp in Arellano sportsfest

MANILA, Philippines - Batch 84 pulled off victories over Batch 88 as action resumed in basketball and volleyball competitions in the Arellano High School Manila North 2012 Annual Sportsfest at the Rasac covered court in Sta. Cruz, Manila over the weekend.

Arnel Aranas knocked in a jumper to shatter the 54-all count then Botchok Cochico made a split to complete the three-point victory, Batch 84’s second straight.

Ronnie Polintan fired 17 points to lead Batch 84’s charge but it was the duo of Aranas and Cochicho who took over in the clutch to secure the win.

Meanwhile, Beth Granada Valencia scored four successive aces in the decider to steer Batch 84 past Batch 88, 25-16, 23-25, 25-16, in the mixed volleyball event.

Yolly Herrera, Cristy Manucom and Ovid Rous also delivered big points in the third set for Batch 84, which also leads the field with a 2-0 card.

Batch 88 fell to 0-2 in both events.
