Chua, Tajo top singles in youth bowling
MANILA, Philippines - National junior players Kenneth Chua and Patricia Tajo topped their respective singles events to lead the winners in the 20th National Bowling Youth Championships at the E-Lanes Bowling Center on Ortigas Ave. over the weekend.
Chua, representing the Tenpin Bowling Association of Makati (TBAM), dominated four of six games to post a leading 1307 total to win the boys’ singles division’s gold medal and secure a slot in the national youth team.
Chua defeated Ren Cremen (1274) and Kevin Custodio (1256) for the gold in the event sanctioned by the Philippine Bowling Congress headed by Ernesto Lopa and PBC Youth chairman Alex Lim.
Tajo, also of TBAM, ruled the girls’ singles event with a 1183 to win the gold and a slot in the national squad. She bested fellow TBAM players Krizziah Tabora (1173) and Madeline Llamas (1169)in the tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Bowling Congress, headed by Ernesto Lopa and PBC youth chairman Alex Lim.
Sixteen young top bowlers will be picked for the national masters after yesterday’s competitions while the overall winning bowling club will receive the perpetual trophy.
In the doubles event, Kenneth Piedad and Louie Chuaquico and Janine Kuwahara and Madeline Llamas dominated their respective groups. Piedad and Chuaquico, playing for Manila Tenpin Bowling Association, shocked RJ Feria and Kevin Cu with a 2485 to secure the gold medal in the boys’ side.
Feria and Cu of Pearl Bowling Association of the Philippines settled for silver with 2481 while the national junior team of Kenneth Chua and Collin Jose of Tenpin Bowling Association of Makati (TBAM) wound up third with 2404.
Kuwahara and Llamas of TBAM combined for 2308 to top the ladies category. Fellow TBAM players Patricia Tajo and Khrizza Taborah settled for silver with 2263, while Anne Marie Kiac and Anne Marie Ramirez had 2080 for the bronze.
