MANILA, Philippines - Twelve-year-old Karl Patrick Bormate of San Sebastian College won all his events and emerged most outstanding swimmer in the Mayor Hagedorn Challenge, 24th leg of the Philippine Swimming League Circuit, yesterday in Puerto Princesa.
Bormate passed the AAA American standard as he ruled the 200m individual medley (2:40.00) and 50m breaststroke (37.68) as well as the 50m backstroke (33.35) and 50m freestyle (28.47).
Mayor Hagedorn together with city sports director Antonio Reyes supported the event staged by the PSL under president Susan Papa and the Diliman Preparatory School under former Sen. Nikki Coseteng.
AirAsia brought in from Clark 40 swimmers that made history for the PSL as part of airline’s inaugural flight to Puerto Princesa.
Champion team was R3 Sailfish of Caloocan followed by the Palawan State University and Puerto Princesa Elementary School.
Most outstanding girl swimmers: Angel Dona (6-under), June Pearl Dagamio (7-8), Haruka Jade Shimizu (9-10), Frances Gerie Baaco (11-12), Francis May Pillado (13-14)), Wendy Fernandez (15-17) and Clarisse Faith Layacan (18 and over).
Most outstanding male swimmers: Marc Bryan Dula (5 yrs), Charles Dylan Chia (6), Charles Emmanuel Ticbaen (7-8), Jerard Dominic Jacinto (9-10), Karl Patrick Bormate (11-12), Darwin Tumaneng (13-14), Samuel Gregory Ongjoco (15-17), and Jeron Mercader (18 and over).
