Drag racing on at BRC today
MANILA, Philippines - The title chase heats up in the Philippine Drag Racing Championships Southern Series as contenders go all-out for a victory in the third and penultimate leg at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Batangas today.
With the expected big number of entries, drag racing director Fil Gulfin urged drivers to come early for the open practice and have more time to double check and adjust their car set-up.
Registration starts 6 a.m. while the drivers’ briefing is set at 9 p.m.
Aside from the much-awaited showdown between multi-titled national champion Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing and defending champion Martin Manalo of RSL Motorsports in the Quick 8 and M&H Pro divisions, focus will also be on sensational teener Jay Arvin Millet.
Millet has been humbling older rivals in the Yokohama Expert class where he’s gunning for his third straight win after beating Jeremie Cabreros of H3 Autoworks and Dondon Santos of Street Tune in the Batangas kickoff and Alex Guru and Dexter Lim of Team Ready in the last leg.
The event is sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by GT Radial, HKS Motor Oil, M&H Race Master, Yokohama and powered by Racing Beat@Wave 89.1.
Dennis Pernes of TMC Racing Team is also gunning for his third straight triumph in the GT Radial Hotstreet division after turning back Mark Ferdinand Herrera and Elegio Dumalag III in the last leg.
Angelo Miguel Mendoza is seeking his second straight win in the HKS Sportsman against Charles Ysen of HY2 and Teddy de la Costa of Team Ready-Bustyworkz.
