Globe Business hosts golf tiff
MANILA, Philippines - Fred Castro of Steel Asia Manufacturing and Nancy Co of Green Cross emerged first and second runners-up in the Globe Connections Cup held recenlty at the Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure Park in Calamba, Laguna for the company’s clientele, who represent some of the country’s top corporations.
Bobby Gabriel of AC-1 Transport was the low net champion while Ramon Antonio Veloso of RR Donnelley Inc. took low gross honors.
The event was a way to highlight how making connections is valuable for the success of any enterprise. All winners were given a special glass trophy.
“The word ’connect’ could mean many things, and for innovative businessmen this could be about connecting their businesses with their customers; connecting themselves with information; and connecting with others to create new opportunities,” said Gil Genio, head of Globe Business.
“Making a connection is like playing golf. You have to make sure that your mind and body are connected to make the swing that would to get the ball into each hole,” he added.
Winners of side activities were Veloso (nearest to the pin), Mark Stevens of Connell Brothers Co. Pilipinas, Inc.(longest drive) and Ruperto Kapunan of Pixillusion (most accurate drive).
Frank Lim of Toyota Quezon Avenue, Fred Castro of Steel Asia Mfg, Kiko Aniag of Toyo Adtec, and Edmundo Bunyi of E-Business Services ruled the Beat the Pro competition.
Other participants were Norman Amora of Asalus Corporation; Mark Johnson of SBOS; Antonio Pio de Roda of Strat-Point Technologies; Marzo Monserrate of Accent Mirco Technologies, Inc.; Jose Mercado of Merlo Agric-Vet Corporation; Mike Ochosa of Carat Philippines; Mark Stevens of Connell Brothers Co. Pilipinas, Inc.; Andy Budiman of Singapore Airlines; Isauro Boy San Pedro of Bmirk, Technistock Corp.; Christian Anthony Angeles of SMS Global Technologies; Cheok Pin Lee of Igloo Supply Chain; and Cesar Sangalang of RNM Dynamics.
Globe Business gave away gadgets and appliances for the competitors and guests.
The raffled items were Callaway Razr II Golf bags, BlackBerry phones, a BlackBerry PlayBook, and 32-inch LG 3D television sets.
