NLEX eyes No. 4 vs Café France

-

MANILA, Philippines - NLEX hopes to come out strong from a long rest as it tries to stretch its win run to four against Café France today in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.

The Road Warriors kicked off their title-retention drive by sweeping their first three games before the Holy Week break, making them the heavy favorites against the Bakers in their 12 noon encounter.

While the Road Warriors are on a streak, the Bakers have lost two in row to Big Chill and Cebuana Lhuillier after an opening day victory.

But NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez remains wary of the Bakers.

“Café France is a resurgent team. After losing two in a row I expect them to step up their games,” Fernandez said. “They’re a physical team so once again our defense will be put to test.”

The Road Warriors have limited their opponents to 62 points although Fernandez said they can’t afford to take the Bakers for granted.

“They (Bakers) are capable of beating any team on any given day. So we must stay focus,” said Fernandez.

In the other game, Junior Powerade tries to force a three-way tie for second with Big Chill and Blackwater Elite at 3-1 as it plays winless Boracay Rum at 2 p.m.
