Miñoza to grace ICTSI junior Interclub opener

-

MANILA, Philippines - Frankie Miñoza, one of the most successful products of the country’s junior golf program, will hit the ceremonial ball in tomorrow’s opening of the 2012 ICTSI Jungolf Interclub golf tournament at the Aoki course of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.

It will mark a rare appearance for Miñoza in the annual jungolf circuit where he first burst onto the amateur golf scene in the mid 1970s and eventually became one of the best Filipino amateurs and professionals ever who played the game. “With one of the most inspiring stories in local sports, we believe that it is just a very generous effort for one of the Filipino golf legends to find time to meet the kids,” said Luigi Tabuena, president of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines.

The Eagle Ridge leg also marks the first time the country’s biggest golf complex operated by Sta. Lucia Realty and Alson Land Corp. with four 18-hole championship courses is hosting the Jungolf Interclub which has drawn 144 players from 16 golf clubs.

The Interclub backed chiefly by  ICTSI is also supported by Pancake House, Teriyaki Boy, Sizzlin’ Pepper, PAL, Duty Free Philippines, McDonald’s, Golf Depot, Pioneer Insurance, PacSports, Julies Bakeshop, Inquirer Golf and B Hotel.

Multi-titled Mia Legaspi, Princess Superal, Andie Unson, Sarah Ababa, AR Ramos, Bernice Olivares-Ilas, Josh Jorge, Aidric Chan and the other standouts of jungolf will try to lead their respective clubs in the 54-hole tourney serving as the second leg of the summer circuit after last week’s Baguio leg.

Represented are from host club Eagle Ridge, Alabang, Aguinaldo, Baguio Country Club,  Cebu, Eastridge, Navy, Valley, Orchard, Riviera, Del Monte, Ayala Greenfield, The Country Club and South Forbes.
