MANILA, Philippines - Multi-titled national champion Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing bounced back with a dominating double victory to firm up his hold of the solo lead in the second leg of the Philippine Drag Racing Championships Southern Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit Drag Strip recently.
Tiu survived a showdown with defending champion and Batangas pride Martin Manalo of RSL Motorsports twice, winning in the Quick 8 division in 11.410 seconds against Manalo’s 12.413-second clocking and prevailing in a best-of-three series for the M&H Pro class crown.
Manalo ruled the first showdown but Tiu evened things up with a time of 10.512 seconds to force a deciding match which ended in a double break-out although Tiu eventually clinched the M&H plum after posting a better time of 10.380 seconds against Manalo’s 12.251.
Teener Arvin Jay Millet, meanwhile, continued his winning ways as he ruled the Expert class again in the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Phils. and sponsored by GT Radial, HKS Motor Oil, M&H Race Master, Yokohama and powered by Racing Beat@Wave 89.1.
Millet clocked 13.451 seconds as he beat Alex Guro’s 13.665 seconds. Dexter Lim of Team Ready settled for third.
