MANILA, Philippines - The second leg of the 2012 Philippine Drag Racing Championships Southern Series resumes this weekend with the country’s leading drivers clashing for top honors at the Batangas Racing Circuit Drag Strip in Rosario, Batangas.
Multi-titled champion Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing goes for back-to-back win in Batangas and third overall to firm up his hold of the solo lead in the battle for the overall championship in the national series.
Tiu, however, will be racing minus his long time friend and teammate Anthony Go for the first time.
Defending champion and Batangas pride Martin Manalo of RSL Motorsports hopes to pounce on Go’s absence and pull off another big win in his hometown turf.
Tiu and Manalo engaged in a tight duel in the Batangas kickoff last month with former ruling the Quick 8 division where he booted out the latter in the semifinal round.
The two met anew in the M&H Pro class where Manalo romped to victory after Tiu succumbed to a red light violation.
