MANILA, Philippines - The Manila Bay Seasports Festival fires off at Manila Ocean Park today at 8 a.m., with master bangkeros from Batangas, Cavite, Bulacan, Quezon, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Mindoro, Iloilo, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay and Manila seeing action.
The dragon boat competitions get underway tomorrow, at 8 a.m., along with semifinal and championship rounds for the bancathon. Teams taking part in the Mixed-Open Dragon Boat Championships include members of the Philippine team that captured the world championships. Other clubs competing are Philippine Army, Dela Salle University, PDRT Fireblades, Blue Phoenix, MaharlikaDrakon, RCP Sea Dragons, Onslaught Racing Radgons, Oncer Piece DrakonSangress, Rogue Pilipinas, Triton Racing Team, EYP Cebu Dragons, and Manila Ocean Park.
To cap the two-day event, organizers will hold an awards night and mini concert at 6 p.m. featuring music artists Eric Santos, Posh, The Go Girls and Pinoy Pop Superstar runner-up Bryan Termulo.
The Manila Bay Seasports Festival is organized by the Manila Broadcasting Company together with the City of Manila, in cooperation with the Philippine Coast Guard, Smart Communications, Caltex, Sugus, Ginebra San Miguel, Cobra Energy Drink, M. Lhullier, So Lucky Crackers, H2O Hotel, Cord Marine Epoxy and Harbor View Restaurant.
