Catalan tops Lee Cup

-

MANILA, Philippines - National team aspirant John Catalan shot an eagle-spiked one-under 69 to rule the first Quezon City Prosecutor Donald Lee Cup at the Phl Navy Golf Club over the weekend.

The 16-year-old Catalan, son of Malabon and Navotas City Prosecutor Jorge Galvez-Catalan Jr., actually finished tied with Monet Mata, but had the lowest gross score in the Open tournament participated in by several justices, judges and law practitioners.

A fourth year student at the Tabernacle of Faith Christian Academy in San Juan, Catalan bested the field of 97.

Catalan, who is hoping to join the national team in the future, eagled the par-5 No.1 and birdied Nos. 2, 9 and 15 against bogeys on Nos. 3 and 11 and a double-bogey on No. 4.
