Anton wins in Subic and Batangas
MANILA, Philippines - Castrol-Yokohama-Mark Young Racing driver Carlos Anton used his 23 years of racing experience to rule the recently concluded Autoindustriya Speedfest Gymkhana-A held in Subic Bay last month and the first round of the Circuit Showdown at the Batangas Racing Circuit.
Anton battled it out against International drifter David Feliciano in the Gymkhana-A event and emerged on top with a time of 1:09.441 against Feliciano’s 1:14.102. Anton’s Special Stage-Hornitex teammate Alfie Concepcion rounded up the top 3 with a time of 1:14.289.
Anton has International Racing experience in Gymkhana after finishing third overall in 2005 during the first Asia-Zone Gymkhana Championships held in Taiwan.
Over at the Batangas Racing Circuit, Anton bested over 60 other drivers to rule the first round of the Circuit Showdown posting a blistering time of 1:28.074 and posted a new lap record for the short track using his trusty Mark Young CRX.
Anton was closely followed by Joby Tanseco with a time of 1:29.889 using a Lamborghini. “Joby (Tanseco) pushed me all day today and we are lucky to come out on top. It’s not a question of “if?” but “when?” Joby will take the top spot on the podium.” Anton said after the race.
“I would like to dedicate the lap record to my friend and fellow racer Anthony Go who passed away on the same day due to a stroke, our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and kids,” Anton said.
Anthony Go was a champion drag racer and also the 2010 AAP Driver of the Year for drag racing.
Anton also currently leads the North Hillclimb Championship after winning the 1st round held last February in the mountains of La Union.
