MANILA, Philippines - Alfredo Gonzales came away with a hat trick as Pachanga FC swept Team Socceroo, 8-0, to close in on league-leading Diliman Victory Liner FC in the Second Division of the United Football League at the University of Makati field in Makati City yesterday.
Gonzales went to work early as he broke the ice with a first minute goal and then followed it up with another 25 minutes later as the Pachanga booters surged ahead with a comfortable 6-0 lead at half.
The top Pachanga scorer added another goal in injury time to complete a rare feat while hiking his total goals scored to 11, two short behind the league-leading 13 posted by Sunken Garden United FC’s Romnick Jover.
Janrick Soriano turned in two goals in a five-minute stretch starting in the second minute, or just after Gonzales set the tone for the rout. The other Pachanga scorers were Ruffy Llorente (9th minute), Jovin Bedic (28th) and Jalsor Soriano (73rd).
The triumph stretched Pachanga’s streak to eight as it remained in second place with 24 points behind Diliman Victory Liner FC.
Diliman, which trounced Laos FC, 3-1, Saturday at the Rizal Memorial pitch, has 25 points on eight wins and an extra game that ended to a draw.
Earlier, Mark Alvin Valerozo struck with a couple of goals to rally Agila FC to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Manila All-Japan FC to regain its No. 3 spot with 18 points on six wins against three defeats.
At No. 4 behind Cebu Queen City United FC going into yesterday, Agila appeared staying put after Manila All-Japan’s Shinichi Tanaka opened up the scoring with a 17th minute goal that gave the latter a 1-0 lead.
