Shakey's volley semis under way

-

MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Mighty Sports Hope Christian School and Angelicum College try to live up to their billing as they take on Colegio San Agustin and National University, respectively, in the Final 4 of the Shakey’s Girls Volley League NCR leg at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig today.

The HCS and ANC tossers topped their respective divisions in the single round elims and are looking to arrange a showdown for the leg title and the lone berth in the Tournament of Champions slated March 21-24 in Davao City.

But CSA and NU are out for a pair of reversals, ensuring a pair of down-to-the-wire matches in the tournament sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and organized by Metro Sports.

Angelicum and NU mix it up at 9 a.m. while Hope and CSA dispute the other finals berth at 10 a.m. Winners will clash for the crown at 2 p.m. with the losers facing off for third place at 1 p.m.

The NCR champion will join the other regional qualifiers of the event backed by Toby’s, Mikasa and Asics. They include New Ormoc City High School (Eastern Visayas), Central Philippines University (Western Visayas), Baguio City National High School (Northern Luzon), Holy Family Academy (Central Luzon), De La Salle-Lipa (Southern Luzon) and first qualifier Pajo National High School (Central Visayas).

Angelicum held off MGC New Life Academy, 25-22, 28-26, last week to clinch the top seeding in Pool B while HCS swept Pool A to gain the No. 1 spot. NU finished No. 2 behind HCS while CSA settled for second in Pool B.
