MANILA, Philippines - Sunken Garden United FC downed Lions Meltique Beef FC, 3-1, in a duel of struggling teams in the Second Division of the United Football League at the University of Makati field in Makati City last Wednesday.
Romnick Jover came through with two goals to carry the Sunken Garden booters to their second victory against six losses for a three-way tie at ninth spot with Dolphins United FC and Manila Japan FC with six points apiece.
It was Jover’s 11th and 12th goals of the season, making him the most prolific goal-scorer in their division. Diliman Victory Liner FC’s Jose Andoni Santos had 10 while Pachanga FC’s Alfredo Gonzales had eight.
Everett Jacobs knocked in a goal on the 28th minute to open up scoring with Jover following it up late in the first half to go into the break as Sunken Garden took a 2-0 cushion.
Jover then secured the victory with his second goal of the match on the 69th minute after Barry Stewart Hui scored the lone goal for Lions Beer on the 55th.
Lions Meltique Beef dropped to last place with four points on a win, a draw and four setbacks.
