MALOLOS, Philippines – Bulacan recently won the overall championship of the Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) meet held in Zambales Sports Complex. It was the Bulakenyo’s 13th time to lord it over all other provinces and cities in the region.
After a week of tough competition held Feb. 19-24, Bulakenyo athletes once again proved their prowess by grabbing 499.7 points.
Second was Pampanga which earned 358 points followed by Olongapo City with 247.91.
The 399 Bulakenyo athletes from elementary and secondary schools outplayed the opponents in almost all events which included archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, chess, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, sipa, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball.
The winners in each event received trophies and medals.
Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado congratulated the Bulacan delegation for its victory.
“Labis po ang aking kagalakan sa pagkakapanalong muli ng mga atleta. Sana po ang mga ganitong gawain ay magsilbing matibay na bigkis na magbubuklod hindi lamang sa mga Bulakenyo kundi maging sa mga kababayan natin sa Gitnang Luzon,” Sy-Alvarado said.
The champion of each event will represent the region in the Palarong Pambansa in Lingayen, Pangasinan in May.
