Agila FC chops off Lions Meltique Beef
MANILA, Philippines - Agila FC gave Lions Meltique Beef FC little room to operate in hacking out a 3-0 victory that solidified its grip of third place in the Second Division of the United Football League at the University of Makati field in Makati City yesterday.
Under the scorching summer heat, the Agila booters buckled down to work early with Peter Ian Mortillero opening up scoring on the 15th minute.
Mark Alvin Valeroso then made it 2-0 early in the second half before Mortillero came through with a second goal off a penalty shot to take the fight out of a flustered Lions Meltique Beef.
The triumph kept Agila at No. 3 with 15 points on five wins against three defeats, a few notches behind the league-leading Diliman Victory Liner FC and Pachanga FC, which were playing different foes at press time.
The Lions absorbed their fourth loss against a win and a draw for four points to remain at 10th spot.
Mark Andrew Madrona is currently third in the division on number of goals scored with seven behind Sunken Garden United’s Romnick Jover with 10 and Diliman Victory Liner FC’s Jose Andoni Santos with nine.
Division One action takes a break as the Azkals are currently in Nepal to compete in the AFC Challenge Cup where the Phl is bracketed with defending champion North Korea, India and Tajikistan.
