City Kart Racing sets goal on Makati track

MANILA, Philippines - City Kart Racing, a world-class karting facility at the heart of the Makati Business District, has lined up a busy 2012 schedule topped by the honing of its own racing team called “Team Pro” and highlighted by a search for a new breed of karters who would graduate as world-class drivers.

The facility’s owner, Jean-Marc Freihuber, bared City Kart Racing’s goals for the year that not only emphasizes on the competitive aspect of the sport, but also putting equal premium on karting’s special potential as a team-building activity of the corporate world.

“In the five years of City Kart Racing, we have evolved not only as a motorsport, both as a form of leisure and sport, but as a role player in the corporate community, which has adopted karting as a team-building vehicle,” Freihuber said.

The facility is located at the Seventh Level Car Park of Park Square I at the Ayala Center and is open every day, except on Christmas Day and Good Friday.

“Many people see racing as a driver-centric sport, but any professional race driver will tell you that racing is a team sport, as without a great team around him, from the tire-men to the strategists armed with laptops full of race data, winning simply isn’t possible,” he said.

For 2012, Freihuber said that they have formulated a program that would further rear City Kart Racing’s potential – a program that would strengthen the facility’s non-sporting edge and form a pool of karters and keep a team of competitive drivers.

“We made sure that the track schedule would be of convenience to everyone and we have a crew that is experienced in the sport, from teaching the novice the rudiments of karting to helping hone the experienced and more daring drivers,” explained Freihuber.

City Kart Racing, according to Freihuber, will actively involve itself with the local racing circuit and would stage a series of its own races to complement its search for young potential drivers and polish its “Team Pro.”
