Corp Cup golf draws 75 teams

-

MANILA, Philippines - Seventy-five teams, led by defending Group I champion Camp John Hay Manor, set out for the 24th staging of the Philippine Corporate Cup, each raring to dish out its best form when it gets going March 6-8 at John Hay Golf Club in Baguio City.

John Hay Manor flashed its familiarity with the par-69 layout and dominated the centerpiece event last year with the hosts, composed of Shean Bedi, Thirdy Escaño, Jayson Yu and Goody Ignacio, coasting to an eight-point win over fellow club bet CJH Suites under the Molave scoring system.

But John Hay Manor braces for a tougher title defense with a slew of others, including last year’s third placer Imarflex Battery, all primed up for the three-day, four-to-play, three-to-count format event featuring the country’s top golfing firms and organizations.

Also going for back-to-back title romps are Tanduay (Group 2), Toyota Dagupan (Group 3) and Imarflex Battery (Group 4) while CJH Golf Club is fancied to score a repeat in seniors play of the event sponsored by Warbird Security, Ricoh Phils. and Nitro France as co-presentors.

Team classification is based on the average of the three lowest handicap indeces of each team. Practice round is set March 5.
