JSAP confers highest jetski honors on Del Rosario
MANILA, Philippines - Filipino world jetski champ Paul del Rosario was conferred the highest honors as the Jet Sports Association of the Philippines recently handed the awards for the top achievers in the 2010-2011 seasons held at the Helm Room of the Manila Yacht Club in Roxas Boulevard.
Del Rosario got two separate trophies for his title-clinching feats as Rider of the Year in the 2010 and 2011 seasons – his sixth career plum in the National Jet Ski Series. JSAP likewise commended his extraordinary feat as the sixth seed in the Pro division’s premier class Open Runabout in the 2011 World Jet Ski Finals in Lake Havasu, Arizona, putting the Philippines in the spotlight of the international racing map.
Joining the list of top riders for 2010 were Female Rider of the Year Jam Mangio, Rookie of the Year Maynard Co and Most Improved Rider awardees Mike Mangio, Sammy Boy Parilla and Darrell Garbes.
Receiving the same set of awards for the 2011 season were Female Rider of the Year Abby Reyes, Rookie of the Year Raymund Romualdez and Most Improved Riders Butch Casido, Abby Reyes and Pong Lee.
JSAP also handed plaques of appreciation to Mayor Alfred Romualdez who was represented by his wife and Councilor Cristina Gonzalez-Romualdez for hosting the successful Sangyaw Jet Ski Invitational; Mayor Jed Mabilog of Iloilo City and Mayor Pablo Ortega of San Fernando, La Union for hosting similar successful jetski events in their cities; and 2011 Phl team manager BJ Ang for the fruitful stint of the RP Jet Ski Team in the World Jet Ski Finals.
New JSAP president Harley David also announced the staging of a four or possibly five-leg series kicking off with the 40TH Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival 2012 at the Villa Beach, Iloilo City on February 18.
The said race will be hosted by the Iloilo Watercraft Association (IWA) led by Vincent Tajanlangit and is expected to lure a huge field of participants from Manila, Leyte, Cebu, Negros Islands and nearby provinces in Mindanao.
Participants will be vying for the titles in the Novice Stock, Pro-Am Stock, Pro-Am Open, Open Ski (Stand Up), 2-Stroke Open, Executive Class, Junior Class and the Women’s division.
