J-Ro ends up joint 8th; Ikeda 12th

-

MANILA, Philippines - Jennifer Rosales failed to sustain a fine start and scrambled at the finish to save a 72, settling for joint eighth in the Thailand Open won by Thai Nontaya Srisawang in stirring come-from-behind fashion at the Lakewood Country Club in Bangkok, Thailand late Friday.

Two off Tanaporn Kongkiatkrai at the start of the final round, Rosales rattled off three birdies against a bogey in the first seven holes to be in the title hunt. But the two-time LPGA winner reeled back with three bogeys in a five-hole stretch from No. 10, needing to birdie the par-5 15th to salvage a 72 for a 54-hole total of 213.

That was six shots behind Srisawang, who tied Rosales after No. 7 behind a four-birdie romp then went on to fire four more birdies in the next nine holes to shoot a record 65 and snatch the crown at 207.

Korean Lee Eun Kyoung actually surged ahead with four birdies after eight holes but slowed down at the back with a birdie-less stint, winding up with a 68 to lose by one at 208.

Chihiro Ikeda, who launched her pro debut with a lead-sharing 68 in the first round, also failed to rebound from a disastrous 74 in the second day as she closed out with a 72 and wound up at solo 12th with 214.

Dottie Ardina also made a 72 for joint 17th at 216 as the top ICTSI-backed bet placed second to Thai Pinrath Loomboonruang, who rallied with a 69 for a 213, in the battle for low amateur honors.
