Bradley guaranteed $5M in Pacman bout

MANILA, Philippines - Other than being a “dirty fighter,” celebrated trainer Freddie Roach knows Timothy Bradley as one who’s “tougher and possibly stronger” than Manny Pacquiao’s previous opponents.

Roach also knows that Bradley, the reigning WBO junior welterweight champion, is both young and dangerous. At 28, the native of Cathedral City is five years younger than Pacquiao.

But Roach told the Long Beach Boxing Examiner that he has Bradley all figured out.

“I already have a game plan to beat Bradley,” he said.

Roach, of course, won’t reveal his game plan, although it’s easy to say that Pacquiao will climb the ring against Bradley on June 9 in Las Vegas as the heavy favorite.

Bradley signed the fight contract the other day, and according to the article written by Granville Ampong, the undefeated fighter signed up for $5 million.

It should be the biggest paycheck ever for Bradley, and if he’d been guaranteed as much he may no longer get anything else from the ticket and pay-per-view sales.

Bob Arum, the chief promoter, said Bradley is a dangerous opponent for Pacquiao, who will put his WBO welterweight title on the line.

“Bradley is going to be the toughest opponent than his previous fights as he is fighting a young light welterweight champion who may seem to be very energetic, dynamic and comfortable at full-welterweight,” Arum said.

While Arum has disclosed how much Bradley is getting, he can’t say how much Pacquiao is earning.

The 33-year-old Filipino superstar has been guaranteed no less than $20 million in his last couple of fights, and Arum was quoted the other day this one will even be higher.
