MANILA, Philippines - Inspired by the success of its Cebu tournament, the Universal Reality Combat Championship will hold another action-packed mixed martial arts (MMA) event – the Colt 45 URCC Baguio: Battleground 4 on Feb. 18 at the Baguio Convention Center.
Baguio and Cordillera field one of their decorated fighters in Roy “The Punisher” Docyogen, the reigning URCC pinweight champion.
Docyogen faces former WBC titleholder Rodel “Kid” Orais in the Superfight – the featured match in the 10-fight affair presented by Colt 45 and sponsored by Chris Sports and Bulls Gloves.
URCC president Alvin Aguilar sees another fierce and exciting fight card with Docyogen and Orais expected to flaunt their varied style and strengths.
“They are two of the best MMA fighters, so I expect another close call,” said Aguilar. “But I won’t be surprised if the match will end early.”
The event, which has Solar Sports and Z Radio as its media partner, also serves as part of the city’s celebration of the Panagbenga Festival (Flower Festival of Baguio and Cordilleras).
Another local fighter to watch is Arnold Agapito, who will be gunning for the vacant URCC featherweight title against Davao’s Ricardo “El Matador” Sapno. The co-main event is the fight between Melchor Cases of Strikes Unlimited and Christian Gazmin, who is making his pro debut.
Other fights pit Baguio-based Will “The Kill” Chope of Phuket Top Team against Red “The Filipino Bolo Punch” Romero, Egly Diaz vs Miguel Alo, Jerson Estoro vs Onyok Transmonte (TBC), Keiif Mangusan vs Roldan Cartajena, Guzman Piayas vs Charles De Tomas, Kevin Yongaan vs Nicolo Espadero, Lito Adiwang vs Bioyondi Divandangan and Ranel Tangguiyac vs MJ Abrillo.
