Filipino fighters featured in PXC

-

MANILA, Philippines - Pacific X-Treme Combat returns on Feb. 18 with PXC 29, the first action-packed mixed martial arts event of 2012.

Live MMA action begins at 7 p.m. at the Ynares Sports Arena in Kapitolyo, Pasig City.  AKTV on IBC 13 will air all of the action via satellite at 9 p.m.

Headlining the tournament is Davao’s pride Ale Cali, who will clash with Jesse Taitano of Guam for the PXC flyweight title. Ale has proven himself in the  PXC after winning against Dylan Pablo of Guam in his last fight and Josh Alvarez in PXC 26, as well as Philip Parcon in 2010.

In the other co-main event of the night, Filipino-American fighter Harris Sarmiento returns to the country to face the dangerous Raja Shippen, a Southern California native fighting out of Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand.

Harris won his lightweight title here against Ronnie Borja last August at PXC 26 last August 2011.

Pacific X-treme Combat (PXC), a mixed martial arts organization based in Guam, made its debut in the Philippines last year holding three high octane events. With its TV partnership with AKTV on IBC13, it has become one of the country’s top MMA show. The fights were aired live and watched by millions of Filipino viewers as well as an international audience.

“PXC continues to raise the bar for MMA in the Philippines and Asia. PXC is the only event in the Philippines that has actually had fighters come through our ranks to the Ultimate Fighting Championship. We also hope to find that next big fighter in the country when we start with our amateur tournament after this event,” PXC General Manager EJ Calvo said.

PXC 29 promises to be another hard-hitting Mixed Martial Arts event as it will feature some of the best fighters of the Philippines who will go up against the best in the Asia-Pacific region.

PXC 29 is presented by AKTV and San Mig Strong Ice. Tickets are available at SM Tickets starting for as low as Php 350.  All tickets come with one bottle of San Mig Strong Ice.
