MANILA, Philippines - Multi-titled Chiang Kai Shek College downed St. Jude Catholic School, 75-55, for its second straight win after an opening day setback while St. Stephen’s High School notched first victory in three games in the 42nd Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association Tuesday at the Uno High School gym.
Led by Kimlee Bayquin, Joshua Tan and John Kevin Baytan, the Blue Dragons rode on a big third quarter run to blast the Judenites and move up to third behind Hope Christian School (3-0) and Xavier School (3-1).
Bayquin had another double-double performance with 19 points and 12 rebounds. He also had four assists and three steals while Tan and Baytan had 17 markers each and combined for 20 boards for the 14-time champion Blue Dragons.
St. Jude dropped to 1-2 in a tie with St. Stephens, which humbled host Grace Christian College , 72-61, in the tournament presented by Regan Industrials Sales Inc. and World Balance.
St. Stephen drew 31 points from Pierre Chan, who spiked his solid performance with eight triples. GCC, which showed up with a new coach in former UP mentor Lito Vergara, slid to 0-3.
Meantime, Hope Christian High School shoots for its fourth straight win against the host squad tomorrow in the tournament backed by Uratex, Burlington, Summit Drinking Water, 100 Plus, Supreme Steel Pipe, Superior Pipe, Ace Water Spa and Molten.
